Dr. Alfred E. Bellows is the psychiatrist for NASA and a main character in I Dream of Jeannie as well as the 1985 NBC movie I Dream of Jeannie... Fifteen Years Later. He was played by veteran TV, stage, and film actor Hayden Rorke.

Dr. Bellows is a very formal person and although he seems to be out to get Tony, he actually thinks very highly of Tony and he will defend Tony if the proposition of firing Tony ever comes up, although a few times he has complied with firing Tony. He is constantly trying to catch Tony in situations involving Jeannie's magic, but can never prove his claims. He is married to Amanda Bellows and has a nephew named Richard. He was getting bored with psychiatry and considering retiring before Maj. Nelson came along. His true dream in life was to sail a whaling ship to Alaska but it never happened.
Dr. Bellows always becomes bewildered and perplexed by the strange things which occur because of the things which happen after Jeannie performs her magic, which usually gets Tony and Roger in really dire predicaments, not to mention hot water with him, as well as their commanding officers, if not with NASA and the U.S. Air Force as well. Often, when Tony and or Roger try to explain the strange occurrences, he, being in the dark about Jeannie's true identity as a genie, winds up asking either or both to come in for more psychiatric observation and/or medical examinations, often as he attempts to investigate the causes behind the occurrences, which could jeopardize their involvements in the NASA Space Exploration Program, not to mention, possibly both their military careers, only to have them foiled whenever Tony has Jeannie reverse the spells.
His nephew is Richard Bellows. His cousin Nancy is married to Major Jamison, and they have a son Custer.
