Gabriel Dell (8 October 1919 – 3 July 1988) made a guest appearance as Arvel Nelson, Tony's huckster/conman cousin from Texas, who is able to persuade a naive Jeannie into helping him get his chili concoction. Cousin Tony's Texas Chili, on the shelves of all the local grocery stores, which gets Tony into big trouble with NASA as the cans, which Jeannie magically blinked on all the store shelves and also in the base cafeteria, have his image on them, in the Season 5 and series finale episode "My Master, the Chili King".

A veteran actor of film and TV, Gabriel was one of the members of what came to be known as the Dead End Kids/East Side Kids/The Bowery Boys.

Early life

Born Gabriel Marcel Dell Vecchio in New York City, Dell almost made his stage debut a few years before Dead End when he and his sister were slated for roles in The Good Earth with Alla Nazimova and Claude Rains. .[1]


Dell died in North Hollywood of leukemia in 1988 at age 68.
