Jerry Seelen (11 March 1912 - 12 September 1981) co-penned the Season 1 episode of I Dream of Jeannie titled "The Moving Finger" with series creator Sidney Sheldon and Harry Essex.


A noted screenwriter and director in both several television. Born and raised in New York City, his career spanned more than thirty years. Also a noted lyricist and composer, many of his compositions have been used in such popular TV shows as The Dean Martin Show, The Danny Kaye show, and PBS-TV's American Masters program. Many of his lyrics have been used posthumously in more recent TV and film projects as well, in such films as the 1996 made-for TV movie Chloé, the 2001 made-for-TV biopic Dean Martin: That's Amore, the 2014 sci-fi film X-Men: Days of Future Past and in episodes of shows such as the French variety TV series Heir Encore, and AMC's Mad Men.
