The Richest Astronaut in the Whole Wide World is the seventeenth episode of First Season of I Dream of Jeannie, and also the seventeenth overall episode of the series. Co-written by Sidney Sheldon and William Davenport, the episode, which was directed by E.W. Swackhamer, originally aired on NBC-TV on January 15, 1966.
Synopsis
Captain Healey finally discovers the truth about Jeannie and takes control of the bottle without Tony's permission. He then uses Jeannie for his own greedy purposes.
Summary
Roger finally discovers that Jeannie is a genie and steals her bottle. Now the cat's out of the bag—and the genie's out of the bottle—when Roger inadvertently summons Jeannie and becomes her new Master. Overwhelmed with the power at his disposal, he takes advantage of her magical abilities.
After making him extremely wealthy, even supplying him with an expensive home with a both a French and Italian maid, it's up to Tony and Jeannie to get him out a very sticky situation which could jeopardize his military career when NASA has him arrested on suspicion of selling government secrets to foreign countries, when General Peterson and Dr. Bellows both wonder how an astronaut on a Army officer's salary could afford all the spoils of a wealthy millionaire playboy that he's all of a sudden come into.
